Clara Oaks is a proposed housing development in the Claremont adjacent to the Claraboya neighborhood to the east and Webb School to the north. The project is the proposed development of Forty single-family homes and public trail parking on approximately 21 acres of an approximate 103.4-acre site, compromised of two parcels and located in the undeveloped hillside north of the Webb Schools, off of Webb Canyon Road and Baseline Road.
Claremont is home to significant architectural and natural resources, so the perks for residents are plentiful. ClaraOaks dwellers partake in the beauty of the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park and Johnson's Pasture - a 180-acre area set aside for picnicking, and grazing in the 1900's by a citrus grower. Today thanks to conservation efforts of an extended community and an eco-mindset, this area maintains a sustainable ecosystem with respect for both flora and fauna. Imagine the easy trek through the main five-mile trail as well as the other minor trails in the surrounding hillsides accessible through historical Johnson's Pasture.
In 2016, the property was discovered and found it to be not just a property—but the spirit of the City of Claremont. From that moment, we recognized the rare character of the land and the values that define the community.
Before moving forward, a thoughtful and collaborative approach was taken with the community in mind.
The City of Claremonts Planning Department and representatives from the local Conservatory were engaged early.
Oppurtunities and sensitivities were studied early - ensuring our vision respected the land and its context.
With a clear understanding of the property's potential and its place in the broader fabric of Claremont, we aligned our goals with the city's ethos. Our transparent, proactive engagement was met with encouragement, and the City even introduced us to additional density credits available outside the immediate area—further supporting the viability and creativity of our vision.

On June 30, 2021, a scoping meeting was held by the City of Claremont Planning Commission. This was the first step in the environmental review process.
City Council Unanimously approved a resolution to change the zoning of the hillsides north of the Webb Schools. The city chalked the discrepancy up to a typographical or 'scrivener's' error after not finding an ordinance that changed the zone from H/SD1 to H/SD2
